The Rock Bar Clinch the B Title

The Rock Bar tore up the form book on Friday night last, capturing the “B” League crown in a pulsating match against last year’s winners, Scullys Bar. After a challenging year at the Oche, The Rock Bar entered the match as underdogs and trailed early on. Their captain, John Cronin, steadied the ship in the second tie and from then on the teams traded points. At the interval the champions to be led 3-2 and went within one of the win shortly after the break. Scullys, unwilling to relinquish their title, fought back winning the next two match ups, to level the contest 4-4. Fittingly, the last doubles pairing went down to the final leg, with both sides scoring strongly to each leave double twenty. Following some close efforts by each side, PJ O’Keeffe stood up and coolly hit double five, securing a famous win for his team.

Also on Friday night last, the Hi-Street gained their place in the “A” decider with a win over Scanlons Bar. They now contest the final this Friday against Dan Hourigan’s in the Hi-Street Bar.
